Conversation

Pete: Er... excuse me Linda, I can’t work out how to read my mail. Could you help?

Linda: Of course. It’s simple - you just click on the icon and key in your password.

Pete: That’s great, thanks. But do you know how to print a mail message? I can’t seem to print.

Linda: Let’s see. Have you checked the paper?

Pete: There was a red light flashing, so I added some to the top tray, but nothing is happening.

Linda: It’s probably a paper jam. Press the button on the handle to open the door. There’s some paper stuck inside - can you pull it out? Great... That looks like your mail coming out now.

Pete: Thanks. I need to make some photocopies, too. How do I do that?

Linda: You have to key in our departmental code first, 347.

Pete: I did that.

Linda: Did you press "enter"?

Pete: Yes.

Linda: And is the lid down?

Pete: Yes, it is.

Linda: That’s strange. Let’s have a look... It’s not surprising it’s not working - it’s not switched on.

Pete: Sorry, I should have thought of that one.

Linda: Don’t worry. There’s a lot to take in on your first day in a new office...
